How this K-Electric bill estimate is calculated

Tariff data last reviewed: 23 August 2026. Slab rates used by this page are stored in a single file (assets/tariffs.js) and applied to every calculator on this site.

  1. Your monthly units are split across the NEPRA domestic slabs and each part is charged at its own rate.
  2. A fixed (minimum) monthly charge is added according to your consumption band.
  3. General Sales Tax at 18% is applied to the energy plus fixed charge.

The result is a base estimate. It deliberately excludes items that change every month and are printed on your own bill.

Why your actual K-Electric bill can differ

  • Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) – typically around Rs 2.5–4.5 per unit for K-Electric, changing monthly. Multiply your units by the FCA on your bill and add it.
  • Quarterly tariff adjustments – recovered over several months and shown as a separate line.
  • Billing period length – a cycle of 33 days records more units than one of 28 days.
  • Arrears and late-payment surcharge – unpaid amounts from earlier months.
  • Fixed line items – meter rent, TV fee and, where applicable, income tax or municipal charges.
  • Time-of-Use meters – if your bill lists peak and off-peak units separately, a single-rate slab estimate will not match it.

K-Electric is a vertically integrated private utility rather than a WAPDA distribution company, so its tariff schedule and adjustment mechanism are notified separately even though domestic slab structure is closely aligned.

What you need before using the K-Electric calculator

Only one number: units consumed this month. You can find it in two ways.

  • Read the Units Consumed field on your printed K-Electric bill.
  • Or subtract the previous meter reading from the current reading – both are printed on the same bill.

K-Electric supplies electricity in Karachi and the adjoining areas of Dhabeji, Gharo, Hub and Uthal. Tariff notifications and official bill copies are published by K-Electric at https://www.ke.com.pk/ and by NEPRA at nepra.org.pk.

K-Electric bill calculator – frequently asked questions

Is K-Electric's tariff the same as the DISCOs?

The domestic slab structure is closely aligned with the NEPRA-notified tariff, but K-Electric's schedule and monthly adjustments are notified separately. Always compare against the rates on your own bill.

Why does my K-Electric bill show peak and off-peak units?

Karachi has a large number of Time-of-Use meters. If your bill lists peak and off-peak units separately, a single-rate slab estimate will not match it.

Does this include the KE fuel charge adjustment?

No. The monthly FCA line on your K-Electric bill must be added separately.

Is this an official K-Electric website?

No. BillCalculator.com.pk is an independent calculator and information website. It is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by K-Electric Limited, NEPRA or any government body. Always confirm charges against your official bill.

This tool gives an estimate for planning purposes. For the amount you actually owe, refer to your official K-Electric bill.

How K-Electric Calculates Your Electricity Bill (2026 Tariff)

K-Electric uses the NEPRA tariff slabs for domestic consumers. Your bill is made up of:

Who is a Protected Consumer?

If you use 200 units or less per month, you are a protected consumer and pay subsidised rates. Crossing 200 units in any single month will make you non‑protected for the next six months – which can more than double your bill. This is the most common reason for unexpected high bills.
